The Silver State Games is a nonprofit organization committed to helping adults live active, healthy, and socially connected lives by producing an annual competitive yet friendly sports events in September and October.

Born in Chicago, Joe is a lifelong athlete who competed in several high school and college sports. He enjoyed a successful career in the U.S Army and Federal Government, spending his final years with the Federal Highway Administration. He has B.S. degrees from the University of Louisville, Ohio State University and an MBA from Syracuse. H
Born in Chicago, Joe is a lifelong athlete who competed in several high school and college sports. He enjoyed a successful career in the U.S Army and Federal Government, spending his final years with the Federal Highway Administration. He has B.S. degrees from the University of Louisville, Ohio State University and an MBA from Syracuse. He has been a competitive cyclist for much of his life, having raced in Germany and the US in his 20s. He rediscovered competitive cycling in his 40s and at 50 discovered the Senior Games where he has competed in cycling events in Colorado, Wyoming, Nevada and National Games. He and his wife, Susan, now live in Nevada where they split their time between Carson City and Summerlin. They enjoy travel, visits to wine country, hiking, cycling and skiing. Joe runs a coaching practice. He is the Silver State Games cycling coordinator.
John’s experience encompasses both professional and athletic fields. He worked for 40-plus years as a technology executive for a Silicon Valley-based healthcare technology company. John also had a 25-year career as a certified Olympic official for the winter sport of bobsled/skeleton and is the Chairman Emeritus of USA Bobsled/Skeleton,
John’s experience encompasses both professional and athletic fields. He worked for 40-plus years as a technology executive for a Silicon Valley-based healthcare technology company. John also had a 25-year career as a certified Olympic official for the winter sport of bobsled/skeleton and is the Chairman Emeritus of USA Bobsled/Skeleton, the national governing body for this sport in the United States. He brings that deep experience and passion to Southern Nevada: He is a past president of the Mesquite Senior Games Board of Directors. Today, John is the City of Mesquite Pickleball Coordinator, a Southern Nevada Pickleball board member, and the Silver State Games Pickleball Coordinator.
Athene has lived in Henderson for 20 years. Her background is in the hospitality industry, having worked for Marriott for over 30 years and Hilton for several years as well. She began in the front office at a Marriott located in Santa Barbara and worked herself up to Director of Sales and Director of Revenue Strategy at the JW Marriott in
Athene has lived in Henderson for 20 years. Her background is in the hospitality industry, having worked for Marriott for over 30 years and Hilton for several years as well. She began in the front office at a Marriott located in Santa Barbara and worked herself up to Director of Sales and Director of Revenue Strategy at the JW Marriott in Las Vegas where she worked for 18 years. Now retired, she enjoys traveling, playing tennis, helping others in need, and assisting in church projects.
While with Marriott, Athene participated in the Corporate Challenge which to her felt similar to the Senior Games. Athene has participated in the Nevada Senior Games tennis competition where she qualified for the 2023 National Senior Games in Pittsburgh.
Nancy has been a Mesquite resident since 2014. Prior to that she lived in Park City, UT where she was heavily involved with the Olympic Sports of Bobsled and Skeleton. Her professional job was as an accountant for 40 years and she managed to be drafted as treasurer in every volunteer organization she was involved in. After retirement she and her oldest daughter bought a year round Christmas Store and every November their home was turned into Christmasland. Since moving to Mesquite she has been heavily involved with the Community Theatre as a board member, backstage manager, props, and everything else that was needed. In addition to Silver State Games, she is currently a board advisor to the Women's History and Culture Center in Mesquite.

For more than 30 years, she has worked to improve the well-being of individuals and communities. Karen currently serves as a director and consultant in behavioral health and holds two appointments as an adjunct professor in health, human services, and counseling. Her own fitness journey began in the 1980s when Karen became a group fitness instructor. Since becoming a certified personal trainer in 1999, she has taught personal training certification prep courses and mentored newly certified trainers. Karen’s passion for weightlifting led her to become an all-natural physique competitor at the age of 40, which she continues to train for to this day. She is the SSG weightlifting coordinator.
Annette Bradley’s career has been highlighted by her positions as Risk Manager with UMC and General Counsel with Southern Nevada Health District, where she advised senior management and staff on regulatory and compliance issues, risk management, and corporate compliance matters. Ms Bradley has a BS in Business Administration from Bowie St
Annette Bradley’s career has been highlighted by her positions as Risk Manager with UMC and General Counsel with Southern Nevada Health District, where she advised senior management and staff on regulatory and compliance issues, risk management, and corporate compliance matters. Ms Bradley has a BS in Business Administration from Bowie State University and a JD from University of Baltimore School of Law. Her strengths include effective communication skills, strategic planning, contracts, and risk management. Ms Bradley wishes to bring her experience and education to an organization that supports the local community and was a member of the gold medal doubles team at the 2021 Nevada Senior Games tennis competition.
John Graham is a native of Ohio. Having participated in several sports such as football, tennis and Track and Field, John settled on bowling as his all time favorite. It began back in the day of human pinsetters -- he would roll 3 balls then run 60 feet down the alley to reset pins and send balls back. He won his first tournament at age 9
John Graham is a native of Ohio. Having participated in several sports such as football, tennis and Track and Field, John settled on bowling as his all time favorite. It began back in the day of human pinsetters -- he would roll 3 balls then run 60 feet down the alley to reset pins and send balls back. He won his first tournament at age 9 and has never looked back. He has six 800 series and 17 over-300’s to his credit, even bowled on the PBA Tour. He is currently working for American Airlines and has donated his time and skill to many charities, including Opportunity Village, St. Jude’s and fund raisers for breast cancer research. He enjoys talking with people -- never met a stranger -- and has experience as a DJ, an Emcee and a photographer. He's the Silver State Games bowling coordinator.

Liz Palmer grew up in Colorado. As a prep, her hurdle record stood for almost 40 years. She was a scholarship athlete who earned a BS and an MBA; she had a 35 year career in accounting and project management in utilities, construction, and healthcare. Liz is a masters track athlete who medaled at the national and world levels and set several American age-group records. She took her love of sport to the role of coach for youth and high school and then for Special Olympics Nevada. Liz was SONV’s 2017 Volunteer of the Year.
Liz was the Executive Director of the Nevada Sr Games from 2019 to 2023. She currently serves the National Senior Games Association as Vice-Chair for the Pacific Region.
Raised in Las Vegas, Shirley started playing softball and basketball in junior high, then in high school added volleyball, tennis and track to her repertoire. Allergies, however, caused her to go indoors and she discovered racquetball. She competed in Corporate Challenge racquetball for many years and has recently discovered pickleball. S

She loves both sports and intends to play until her body tells her she’s done. To quote Shirley: “Sports is meeting all kinds of nice people. It transcends politics, religion and ethnicity -- so let’s play!" Shirley is the Silver State Games racquetball coordinator.
Elizabeth moved to Nevada from the Dallas area in 1985. She and her husband own a public accounting firm – Templeton and Templeton. She has a BS in employment law from UNLV and has been with her firm for 35 years. She brings a wealth of experience in the areas of general business, accounting, software applications, and human resources.

Elizabeth is a tennis enthusiast and is a new participant in the Nevada Sr Games tennis competition, having medaled in the 2021 competition. She enjoys being active, involved in her community, and is contributing in the work to ensure Silver State Games success.
